RNA Quality/Quantity Service

RNA quality and quantity can be accurately assessed on an Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer. The Agilent Bioanalyzer is becoming the method of choice for determining RNA quality. The instrument uses microfluidics technology to separate charged molecules by size. Both total RNA and poly A can be analyzed on the Bioanalyzer. This service is provided to CERH members at no cost. Total RNA, polyA RNA and microRNA can be analyzed on the Bioanalyzer.

Submission requirements:

  • RNA should be in water or dilute buffer (ie. 10 mM Tris, 0.1 mM EDTA).
  • RNA concentration should be in the range of 25-500 ng/µl based on spec reading.
  • Very dilute RNA samples can be read using a more sensitive assay. In this case, RNA should be in the range of 0.2-5 ng/µl.
  • 5 µl of each RNA sample is requested.
  • Results should be available within one day.
